New Priest-in-Charge

We are excited to announce that the Rev. Bill Coyne has agreed to serve as our interim priest-in-charge beginning Sunday, July 17th !  He comes to us with great experience in the Episcopal Church and the Diocese

Rev. Coyne has served in The Episcopal Church in South Carolina since August 2015 when he was called as interim rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Charleston. He led that parish for two years through their successful call of a new rector last summer. In August 2017, he was named priest-in-charge of The East Cooper Episcopal Church where he served until 2019. In addition to his work at St. Stephen’s and East Cooper, he served as the Missioner to the Returning Congregations for the Diocese where he developed a close relationship with our congregation.

Before coming to South Carolina, Bill served for 15 years as the archdeacon of the Diocese of Western Massachusetts, where he was responsible for congregational development of 65 congregations. After completing his service as archdeacon in 2013, he served in two interim positions in Western Massachusetts before he and his wife, Janet, moved to Charleston. They have three grown children and five grandchildren.

We are thankful for Rev. Coyne’s ministry with us and the experience he brings in helping congregations prepare and search for a permanent priest-in-charge.  If you are discerning a call to serve with us, please visit our “Priest-in-Charge Search” page.
