The Episcopal Church on Edisto is a vibrant congregation that has many opportunities to serve.  If one or more of the ministries below appeals to you, fill out the “Contact Form” below and let us know which ones.  We’ll make sure the point-of-contact gets in touch with you.  Don’t be shy or worried you don’t have the skills required – we equip everyone!

Worship

Worship Servers – each week parishioners serve in a variety of positions to help us have a meaningful service.  If you are interested in serving as an Acolyte, Lay Eucharistic Minister, Reader, Usher, or Intercessor, please reach out to Nancy Skardon to find out how you can help.

Music – We have a vibrant music program led by our Choirmaster and Organist, Elizabeth Galaida.  If you play a musical instrument – we include all forms of instruments – or love to sing in the choir, please contact Elizabeth to find out how to get involved.

Altar Guild – one of the most wonderful ministries is to setup the altar for the service.  Our Altar Guild members take great care in preparing the table for the Eucharistic Feast each Sunday.  We would love to have you join the team!

Flower Guild – Flowers fill the altar with beauty.  Do you enjoy arranging flowers?  If so, our Flower Guild would love to have you join their ranks.  Ginny King leads this important group and would be happy to help you get in the rotation when you are ready.

Fellowship

Front Porch Fellowship – Each Sunday we find great joy in our worship then share it with each other with a period of fellowship n the front porch.  What we have is not as important as the role it serves in keeping us around to enjoy each other’s company.  Let us know if you feel called to this ministry and Nancy Skardon will be in contact with you.

Foyer Groups – One of the best ways to get to others in the church is to participate in a Foyer Group.  Ginny King organizes the groups in the fall which meet monthly at a different member’s home each month.  If you sign up, you will have a great time!

Valiant Seekers – Valiant Seekers is a book club that meets monthly in the Bay Creek Room or Zoom to discuss a book the group chooses to educate themselves on different issues we face in the world today.  One of the goals if to develop a Christian response to these problems that we can enact in our lives.  Pat Neumann will contact you if you would like to join us.

Men’s Bible Study – Do you like a good breakfast? Do you enjoy discussing scripture with other men?  If so, this group is for you.  The group meets at the Bay Creek Room each Monday morning at 8am to read, discuss and give the rector some things to include in his sermon.  It’s a great group.  If you would like to join us, Jim Gettys will reach out.

Dancing for Joy – Love to dance? Who doesn’t! It doesn’t matter if you have two left feet or a right and a left, the music will make you move, get in shape and just bring great joy into your life! If you would like to join us, Elizabeth Galaida will contact you with the details.

Prayer Circle – Members of our Prayer Circle gather names from the Congregation of those who need our prayers. Together they prayer for each individual or social topic and then as us to prayer for them as well each Sunday. If you are interested in serving with the Prayer Circle, please fill out the Contact Form below and we will forward your name to Mrs. Pat Neumann.

Helping Hands – We all have unexpected events in our lives and sometimes need a little help while you figure things out. Our Helping Hands ministry provides meals during these times so you can focus on getting the situation better and not have to worry about what you will eat. Jean Murray leads this group. If you feel this is a ministry you would like to be a part of, then let us know through the Contact Form below and she’ll reach out.

Caregivers Group – Caring for a loved one is a wonderful opportunity but can also take a lot out of us. Our Caregiver Group provides a safe space to share how you are feeling and in return gain the spiritual support from folks that care about you. If you are interested in “caring for the caregivers” fill out the form below and Susanne Nash or Harriet Gettys will be in touch.

Outreach

The Outreach Committee – we budget 10% of our budget to our Outreach program.  If you would like to serve on the committee that makes recommendations to the Vestry on how we can make an impact in the local, national, and international communities, Betsy Daise will contact you.

The Growth Committee – Although named to grow our congregation, we end up spending more time getting to know those in our community by putting on free lunches or handing out waters at events on the Island.  It is a great mission and a fun time.  Let us know you would like to help, and Emilie Cox will be in touch!

The Blessing Box – The black and white box in the front of our church is our Blessing Box.  It is a place where those who have some food to give, can give and a place for those who could use some help with food can get some.  If you have a little to give, please consider dropping off some canned goods for others to enjoy.
